Proof of the level of English for master programs at Faculty IV

To be admitted to any of the master programs at Faculty IV, you have to prove that your knowledge of the English language corresponds to level B2 or higher on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). (Exception: Computational Neuroscience). For English language level B2 the qualifications shown in the table below serve as the lower limiting value.

Applicants for the master program Automotive Systems do not need to submit proof of English language proficiency as of WS 2017/18.

The following certificates for proof of Englisch proficiency are accepted

DAAD compliant language certificate issued by TU Berlin's ZEMS or any other academic language teaching unit of a German university 1
all competence areas marked B2 or better
TU Berlin's ZEMS language course
course level B2 or higher, successfully completed and with ECTS points certificate
Bachelor studies with English as language of instruction in an English-speaking country according to section "English as a native language"
successfully completed at an acknowledged university
German Abitur stating "Allgemeine Hochschulreife"
at least 6 years of basic or advanced courses in English as a first or second language and a minimum of 11 points on average or grade 2.0 over the last 4 school terms
or
explicit confirmation on the certificate that the achieved English level corresponds at least to level B2
English as a native language
definition native language: identification document from an English-speaking country; English as official language

Accepted for Antigua & Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cook Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Canada, New Zealand, Philippines, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Vincent, Singapore, Trinidad & Tobago, United Kingdom (Great Britain and Northern Ireland), United States of America 
1 ZEMS = Modern Language Center at TU Berlin. Language certificates of the Sprach- und Kulturbörse (SKB = Language and Culture Exchange) at TU Berlin are not accepted, even if the DAAD form was used for this purpose. The language proficiency test onSET English is also not accepted, even if it was taken at ZEMS.
