Goals of the Master’s Programme

The Master’s programme in Computer Science is designed to qualify graduates for a future career in the area of information technology and equip them with the skills they need to pursue academic work in this area. Building on the knowledge students have acquired in the Bachelor’s programme, the Master’s programme begins again with a basic studies phase before introducing students to current research topics in the specialized studies phase. To this end, the Master’s programme is closely tied up with the Faculty’s research activities: seminars, projects and Master’s theses are directly embedded in the current research work of the various groups. The programme’s research colloquia and advanced seminars enable students to gain an insight into current research in the area of information technology.

The Master’s programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills they will need to directly assume high-level positions requiring self-reliance and initiative in industry, management, science and research. Graduates should in particular be capable of subsequently performing leadership functions.
